Wine, Cheese and Candy pairing – Halloween Edition!

If you love wine, candy and cheese — this Halloween video is for you!
I am more of s savoury person than sweet but these three can all work spookily well together.
For some combos it is a question of matching like for like. For others, I love the savoury/sweet contrast.

In the video I explore:
Sour Haribo with Sauvignon Blanc and creamy goats cheese. Hint — The high acid in all three makes everything pop with flavour.

Caramel popcorn, oaky creamy Chardonnay and brie or triple crème cheese — same principle — the rich caramel and textures add a layer of decadence to all involved.

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Rioja and Manchego — might sound weird but watch the video! The American oak in the Rioja matches the nutty hedonism of the Reeses and I adore peanut butter with a Manchego. The flavour infusion is amazing — Spaniards don’t hate me.

Other pairings to try:
White chocolate, Moscato d’Asti and buttery sweet Swiss cheese. The bubbles hold everything together!

Snickers, Oloroso Sherry/Madeira and Roquefort — the combo of sweet, nutty and salty is insane!
