Happy World Poetry Day from my sis and I!

For this special day, I invited my sister, a poet and a Poetry Editor, to share poetry from an exciting new collection – hitting the shelves next month!
Introducing Isabelle Baafi’s debut work, ‘Chaotic Good’ – Urgent, beautiful poems to make sense of the world and our place in it. Published by Faber and available in April!
Lavinia beautifully reads ‘ The Cottage’, an ambiguous, gothic like poem with a potentially redemptive ending… Fans of Angela Carter – this will be right up your street!
Paired to the brooding, intense prose, I immediately thought of an equally brooding and nuanced wine:
Fleurie, Jane Eyre, Beaujolais, Burgundy France 2022. £30.00 from various online retailers.
I explain in the vid why I thought this beguiling wine could match the prose and awesomeness of Isabelle Baafi.
But in short:
Jane Eyre, the Aussie winemaker behind this Burgundian wine, is a rockstar and turned Burgundy on its head by being the first ever female to be awarded ‘Negociant of the Year’ in 2021. And she also makes serious Tasmanian Pinot Noir – another fantastic Aussie cool climate region for Pinot – see previous vid!
For any lover of SERIOUS BEAUJOLAIS – this wine is for you.
Full of dark berry fruit, coulis like intensity, laced with licorice, succulent tannins and beautiful floral aromas.
Profound, layered yet ultimately uplifting … just like Isabelle’s poetry!
What poet have you discovered recently? And what wine would you pair with them?
Watch our video here!
Happy Poetry Day everyone – Cheers!
